so ive heard many times it is possible to breed a molly and a guppy. but i cant find much about it online?

ive had 5 molly fry living in my guppy tank since they were born (it was the only place to put them seeing as my guppys never ate their babies i figured they wouldnt eat these) and it turns out all 5 are female

they are living with 6 male and 2 female guppys.

what is the general opinion on trying to crossbreed fish? is it frowned upon or ?

i would love to see if the male guppys will mate with these 'virgin' mollys and what the fry will be like

isit possible? should i let these mollys stay in the guppy tank to see what happens or get them out of their before they hit mating age?

If your mollies are old enough for you to sex them reliably, they are old enough to mate. I have about 30 mollies that are about 2 months old and are over 2.5 cm long but all look like females because they have not yet developed fully. I have kept mollies and guppies together many times over the years and have never seen them hybridize. I am sure it is possible and have been shown pictures of the results by people that I trust but apparently it is not easy to get the 2 species to cross.

If their are no male mollies then breeding is possible.
Females can reject sperm packets from differnt species, but if their are no choice then you have a chance.

ah these are all around 2.5cm long, maybe some will be male then? they look female right now though. will leave them a month or so and if they are still looking to be female i may give it a go and let them stay in there.

If you are seriously going to give it a go, then you must make sure you keep a really close eye on the mollies as they develop. Make sure you separate any males as their gonopodia start to develop.
