Molly Fry Behavior?

I bred two of my mollies together and had 27 fry on November 30th. I kept three of them and gave the rest away.
Over the past days one has gotten considerably larger than the other two. (I keep the three in a breeder trap)
Anyways yesterday one of the fry died.
Could this be because the larger one was being a bully or starving the others to death?

That is a long time to keep fry in a trap. Has the water in the trap been kept pristine with frequent cleaning and water disturbances?

it gets cleaned twice a week. They're in the trap because they're not large enough to be free swimming yet (They could still easily be eaten by my larger fish) and I don't have a proper filter for my 5 gallon - which I would put them in

For 3 small fry, the 5 gallon would make a good grow out tank. Just change half the water weekly and feed well. They will thrive and grow.
