I believe i read somewhere that mollies and guppies don't breed because they are not the same gene pool? Well i think someone forgot to tell my male molly this information

I was watching my tank this morning and noticed that my male molly is trying to corner one of my female guppies and moving his "equipment" towards her. Don't know whether or not he will succeed my guess is he wont but i am also thinking that he doesnt care that shes not of his class, its hey your a female fish i'm a male fish lets make some waves....lol

Livebearers don't seem to care that their efforts are in vain, they are males. In the case of mollies and guppies, I have never seen the results in my own tanks but have read that actually can cross, at least theoretically.

Guppies and mollies will try to breed with each other, even seen guppies try to breed with neon tetra's as times...

So dont worry they may try buy it rarely leads to cross breeds. Even when it dose the fry tend to be very small and weak and tend to die off while very young.
