Hey, as you may be aware, my molly fry arrived yesterday, today they are still in the breeding trap but for the last hour or so my 4 adult mollies have been congregating under the trap, and one in particular, who I think is also more than half way through gestation, seems quite territorial under the trap?

are they waiting for falling babies to eat? showing maternal/paternal instincts/ or something even more bizzarre?

They have no idea they can't get into the trap. They're looking for a meal. If you want to keep the stress down on the fry, separate them into a different tank if you can. If not, can you get some Java Moss and line the bottom of the breeder trap? It'll block the line of sight for the adults. Plus it will do a good job of cleaning up the water a bit.

hopefully by end of week i will have a seperate tank running, I have a tiny 18inch by 10 tank, just waiting for the box filter to turn up which im gonna put in main tank for a week then im gonna stick it in little tank along with some extra filter media from main and some gravel and some water all from main tank, anything else I need for it? think i have been picking up some good points on these forunms!!!! spent enough time readin last 24 hours!!
