Hi all

I have a 23 imperial gallon tank with 2 lyretail mollies (pair), + 2 corys one peppered and one albino.... (the pair has already had the first batch of fry ) just 9 but after 5 days they are still alive ( i am keeping them in a net breeder)

Now I have read that mollies need high temps (that is fine for me ) since I keep the aquaria in the washroom, but also need salt and veggies and also brine shrimps .

the aquarium has a gravel substrate together with a number of plants

now the questions are the following:
1. Any salt is suitable for aquaria, or has to be marine salt?
2. If i put an x amount of salt what will be the affect on other fish namely corys?
3. the veggies, such as zucchini, lettuce or spinach should be boiled or raw?
4. According to the size of my aquaria can I put some other species? or shall i keep a tank of mollies?

Thanks for your help

I'm pretty sure you can't add salt to a tank with Cories in. I have Mollies without salt and they are doing fine. Some places say they need salt, others say they would like it but its not essential.

does anyone know how often the mollie give birth because i think she is pregnant again after one week !

I second the no salt thing, the cory's won't like it. As for my experience with mollies they are pretty hardy and do fine with flake food. But they would probably like the occasional treat.

Mollies love brackish/ slightly salty water ... With the corys NO do not add salt ... Mollys do need plant matter you can buy flake food too supliment this
