Hello everyone
I need advice I woke up this morning to find my mollie having a swollen eye and two white fungus growths one on its right side just below its tail fin and one fungus growth near its top fin. the mollie seems fine other than this no wierd behaviour. Ive done a bit of researching and found the problem with its eye could be pop eye either from injury or intestinal bacteria and the fungus could have been due to injury but ive not noticed any injuries. Checked my levels nitrate nit n ammonia level is at 0.50ppm but other levels are all fine. other factors Ive recently added new fish 6 small harlequin I also have some small fry.

Whats the best treatment option for my mollie? can you treat for the fungus and pop eye at the same time? please help! post as soon as you can

many thanks

your ammonia level is 0.5ppm?

anything above 0 is toxic to your fish. How long as the filter been cycled?

I think mollies are quite prone to pop-eye, good clean water should clear it up (and getting shot of that ammonia!). You may well find that the fungus will go to with this treatment, unless it's very well established.

the filters been estabilshed around 7 months now havent had any kind of spike since around 3 months although i did recently around 2 months ago change substrate to sand so maybe thats why theres a spike n dont worry its now back to 0 :) should i treat the tank with melafix just to be on the safe side? all the other fish are fine no wierd behaviour or cues of ill health.

started treating the tank with melafix, had 2 treatments now. it's made the water go cloudy. will this be dangerous for the fry? i want them to survive. :( the platy fry are just under 2 weeks old.

I moved my fry to a small tank so that I could treat my adults with melafix for a fungus. Also, this prevented the parents from eating the little guys. The best way I found to transfer them is with a turkey baster. Sucks them right up!

well i dont have another fish tank yet so im treating the tank with them in treating it with melafix been about four days now and one fungus growth has gone on the mollie the bigger fungus growth still there but hopefully it will go soon although the eye seems the same but then again Im watching him everyday and probally cant notice if its reducing. The fry seem fine with the treatment there growth is whats to be expected so im not worried about them just want to get my mollie better first fish Ive ever bought so hes important to me
