My female mollie had a batch of fry on March 18. They all got eaten

Now, more than 5 weeks later, she is still skinny, I thought she might have started getting fat again by now?

She's still in contact with her male friend.

Should I be worried?

Other than not looking at all pregnant she seems very happy. Good appetite, swimming around happily etc.

I don't actually mind if she doesn't breed like clockwork, I just want her to be happy!

Any thoughts?

I just remembered that I had to dose the tank for worms shortly after the last fry drop (2 doses, over 2 weeks)... Might this have put her off?

cheers

It's perfectly normal for some fish to rest, just feed as normal, and if you want to encourage them then get plenty of live/frozen food, this dose the trick if you want then to breed again.

sounds good. I give them a little bit of frozen brine shrimp every night, but maybe I should feed them more in general??

I was so worried about not over=feeding them (as one of the pitfalls for new players) that I might be under feeding them!

well just keep up with water changes and it will be ok.

If you are trying to condition mollies for breeding, a high vegetable content food will do more for you than the brine shrimp does. My own experience with pet shop quality mollies tells me they are definitely vegetarian in preference although they will consume high protein diets like brine shrimp.

i would add some photos but im not sure how it says enter the url but my photo dosent have a url?

if you uploaded a photo to photobucket it would.

or u can upload it using this site by adding a file/photo tool

Thanks for your comments. I feed them peas which they seem to really like! They seem to really like the brine shrimp and micro pellets I feed them too!

I don't actually mind if they don't breed constantly. I just want them to be happy!
