Mollie Giving Birth!

Help me!!! I'm new to keeping fish and i think my Mollie is giving birth (an extremely fish like thing sticking out of her!!) BUT it's been nearly two weeks and i'm getting worried!!! HELP,HELP.

It's been sticking out of her for almost 2 weeks? Are you sure it's a fry, and she's not just pooing? Are you sure it's the SAME thing?

If it is a fry (Would have to be fry's...she can't hold on to one for 2 weeks), she's having birthing troubles. Sometimes what people do, is net the fish and give them a little squeeze. You need to be very careful with this though.

Do you have a picture, by any chance?

i wouldnt think its a fish,after 2 weeeks it will be dead and dicomposing (sp)and the fry are rarther small so there wouldnt be much left of the fry after 2 weeks.but thats just s bit of a guess im sure other people will give more info.

I just watched my guppy giving birth, and one got stuck, she managed to push it out, but it was dead...

Some have been eaten, and some i have saved in a breeding net !!

Don't squeeze her, well, atleast I wouldn't. I'd net her and pull it very gently with tweezers or fingers. I think she'd squirm a bit at first after netting but will stop flopping around after a few seconds.

I have had loads of Mollie fry during the 15 months I have been fishkeeping. I have never seen them give birth. I saw one Mollie acting very furtively behind a piece of wood a few days ago and I saw 3 fry yesterday. I can never even tell they are pregnant as they are a rounded shape anyway. I imagine the birth is over quite quickly, definitely not 2 weeks. I hope your fish is ok. My Mollies are Dalmations so I cannot even see the gravid spot.

Can you describe what the thing sticking out of her looks like? Its definatly not going to be a fry if its been there for 2weeks as it'll be rotting by now and the mother fish would have died, you sure its not just a poop? How long have you had her and how long has the tank been set up and how many gallons does it hold?
