would i have any problems having male guppies and female platys in my community tank ???
many thanks in advance

You shouldn't have any problems, its mostly mixing male guppys and female guppys together or male platys and females platys or platys with swordtails etc that you have to be careful about. Do you just have male guppys and female platys?

They should be fine. I had this question a while back, and while the platy's didn't do too well in my tank anyway, i didn't notice any problems between the guppies and the platy's. I was concerned they would try and interbreed but I guess the species are too different to be interested in each other.

Yes i got some platys yesterday and after having a good look at them it looks like there all female (no pointed anal fin). My wife has a small tank with guppies and she wants me to put a couple of male guppies in my tank as its a little over stocked.

If there's going to be no female guppys or male platys in your tank then it should be absolutely fine as long as the tank has enough space and the right stocking for them :good: .
edit: On that note though, how many gallons is your tank and what fish and how many do you have in it at current?
