I have a pair of Hemichromis lifalili (bright red jewels) and about 5 juvies of the Hemichromis guttatus (clearish with green irredsence) in a 29 gallon. they seem to be doing fine....but there personalities are different. the red jewels seem to be more skidish and reserved. while the 5 guttatus love hanging out at the front of the tank waiting for the next meal! lol they all seem to be getting along well....although the large red male seems to be the clear owner of the tank... the female red is VERY BRIGHT right now and is guarding a small area of the tank in the back left side(noone is allowed near except the red male...they are quickly chased away)I bought the lifalili (reds) as a TRIO..but the second female died (or was killed) and now it looks like they might have a paired up....hmmmm So my real question is....is it OK to mix these 2 different kind of cichlids? Also do you think my male and female lifalili (reds) have paird up and are likly breeding (or already have) thanks for all input!
