I have a 40g square tank, and I'm looking for some fish to put in it. I really like Keyhole Cichlids, and Festivum. I can get large Keyholes and small Festivums. I think they're both about the same in aggressiveness, and getting them sized the way I want to do it should be ok. I have other tanks if the Festivum get to be too mean.

Any comments?

Festivums and keyholes are considered to be best friends.
you could fit possibly, 2/3 festivum and 4 keyhole in a tank like that.
Festivums stay mainly at the top of the tank and keyholes at the bottom, so they get along the best. you could even add a school of large tetra(not neons, they eat them in the wild,i recomend the black phantom tetra) since keyuholes are shy and need dither fish.
You should plant it and make lots of hiding space(pots,rocks,wood...all make good caves) and they should have plenty of cover.
It's an awesome tank to watch and is very enjoyable

Good Luck

Hmm That's cool. I decided to do some research this time, before I made an impulse buy, was only going to buy 2 of each. They were $8 Each, but I haven't seen big keyholes around here before, and they may not be the best looking keyholes, but they seem healthy. The festivum looked pretty happy, in a tank with angelfish. I think I just might try a few and see how things go. Thanks for your help !
