Hi I have a channa gachua in my tank at present and my friend has a channa bleheri which he doesn't want anymore can I put it in my tank with the other one?? Or is this a bad idea??

No.
There is a good chance the Gachua has may be tropical, whereas the Bleheri is sub-tropical.

Aside from the temperature issue, you also have the problem of introducing a new SH to an established SH's territory.
Finally, Channa are not "community" fish and should not be mixed. They should be kept in SPECIES only tanks.

I see he will have too sell it to someone else in that case, are channa stewarti's tropical or sub??

Stewartii are sub tropical.
But the other main point is that Channalover should be kept in species only tanks. (eg. All Bleheri, or all the same region of Gachua)
Even then they need to be added together otherwise they will try to kill each other.

Ok cool cool I see, I have the gachua in with a couple of tank mates atm but most are going to a friend apart from a common pleco, as I have recently got the gachua is it risky to put another in there I would I have to get a pair from the shop or even 6 so a pair is likely to form??

I would love to have the bleheri, where abouts are you and how much for it?
Jamie

Unfortunatly, you can't pick pairs.
The ONLY way to get a pair is by putting a load of around 6 in together and watch when (if) a pair forms.

Might have to set another tank up then haha, I'm based in slough if your interested in buying, I've also got a giant snakehead for sale at around 4inchs
