I'm considering rehoming my guppies and adding another small group of apistos.

Currently have cacatuoides. 1 male 1 (soon to be 2) female.

How would they get on with a same size group of macmasteri?

Is it a no go? Will they get on or not?

depends on the tank size and the amount of caves you have for them i have agassizi and beanschi together and the only time they have a go at each other is if they stray into the others territory
the other thing you would come across is that they can and will mate with any female no matter which type of apisto it is

Ok. Well I don't plan on breeding, but if it were to happen what could you do with the offspring?

I plan on rescaping soon to add more caves etc. I will wait until I do that.

I just saw some macmasteri blue at lfs today. Thought they looked really nice.

Also going to add a few real plants too.

If its the 125 youve got still no probs :) Try and set up territories at each end with multiple males and each colonies should keep to each end - or at least the females the males could dot around I dont imagine either will muscle in on the other too much. But I think it will work pretty nice :)

Cheers.

So offspring like that aren't a problem then? Since some people seem to have issues with hybrids.

I would imagine they will stick to their own species before swapping partners.... As far as fry goes, if you just want to let nature take its course - ie let the parents do their thing then you wont end up with fry to the level to over run the LFS. If you do want to breed them properly however, you could move them on via aquarist classifieds, the appistogramma website or the classifieds here there are a whole network of fish auctions all over the country that you would be able to use to find homes for fry and they are always interesting to go to.

Cheers guys.

No, don't want to breed properly. Don't want to put in the time and effort for it when breeding isn't a goal.
Just wanted to know what I could do if it were to happen. ESP with the possibility of cross breeding.

Gonna experiment with some rocks soon, see if I can find a nice layout with them. And build a few caves into it. If I come up with something I like then I'll recreate it in the tank.
