Before I decided to do a 'mix' I got a pretty much 50/50 opinion on whether it can be succesful or not.

What do we reckon?

I think personally with the right selection of species it can most certainly work, i've got mbuna species mixed with tangs such as Brevis, leleupi, compressicep, etc and they get along fine (with the odd problem)... I guess it's down to each individual situation/setup?

your thoughts please!

Yea, alot of people do it. Choose the right fish, do your research and you'll be successful. Things to take into consideration when 'mixing' are compatibility, dietary needs, water conditions and scenery requierments... if all fits, why not ?.. :good:

One thing i dont like but some people do, is an American/African mix..

i wouldnt if i were u as they require totally different set ups.

im not saying it cant be done though, but i wouldnt

Yep, it can be done. I'm thinking about it since all but one of malawi/victorian are carnivores. I believe a good amount of tangs are carn....at least the ones I'm thinking of adding. We'll see if I actually do it...gotta move the tanks around first.
