Hi guys,

I got a pair or honey gouramis on Sunday and put them in my tank. Unfortunately the apistogramma chased them all night (both males and females), so I got a tank today at the lfs just for the gourami. When I got home from work I could only find the male gourami, no sign of the female what so ever???? Ive moved the bog wood, and rummaged around in the plants but can't see her. I've moved the male but am really worried about the female. Any ideas guys. The tank is completely covered as it's a jewel one. And occupants of the tank it shrimp, tetras, danios and the dwarf cichlids so the gourami is way too big to be eaten.

Don't get it???

Cheers

Andy

Is there any way that she could have burrowed into the base of any plants or next to any rocks. I know it sounds unlikely but if she was scared and all. In the first tank I had it took me about 5 hours to find a danio and it had dug its way under a plant

It's a gravel substrate so I guess so. I'll have a good dig around when in get home from work tonight.

Thanks for the advice. Was in a bit of a stew this morning rooting around in the tank before work i forgot to say thank you for the advice, so thanks. :)

Cheers

Andy

Oh, if it has dug itself under a plant, will it be ok, or shall I expect the worse tonight?

Cheers

Nope, probably just hiding!

I have 9 Panda Corys in a 4ft 339ltr tank, and have never seen all 9 at the same time. Even when i had the tank out from the wall last night to swap backdrop, i a had a 360' view of the tank, and i could still only find 5!

You'll be amazed at the places fish can wedge themselves. Sometimes i find a shrimp poking a head out of the spare outlet in the bottom of my U2 filter. She just sits in ther watching the rest of the tank go by!

Well I've taken all of the plants out as well as
The ornaments and can't find her. Didnt want to disturb the gravel too much as inhave soil underneath it for the plants. Very odd :-( :-(

You should compleatly stir up the soil. (first take the other fish out.) also remove the Danios and put them in another tank (if you can) if i is not possible then seek advice from someone that works at like petsmart or something

Unfortunatly thats not possible. I've only got a 29l open top tank (so is about 25L with water in it) in addition to my 12l, so i couldn't put all my fish in that, then do the work on the 125L. Plus the aspito's will be after the remaining gourami thats in the 25L tank.

Will the missing one un bury itself when it gets hungry, or and i going to have to grally go through the gravel and soil?

Cheers

If it is under there, I would not hold to much hope out for it to be honest as it would be hard for it to breath :-( You sure it is not on the floor somewhere outside the tank or under a table?

It's an open top tank. Do you have cats? I caught mine fishing one day. Just perched on the edge of the tank, with his paws searching for a fish that was brave enough to come close. Or it could have jumped.

The 125L is a closed lid (its a juwel one) and its only open at feeding times and for cleaning, but i did check in the hood, all round the floor, behind the tank, took the filter appart, took all the plants and ornaments out. The only thing left in the tank when it did it was the gravel on the bottom of the tank (with soil under it) and the fish in the tank. The open tank i was refering too is the emergancy one i purchased.

guessing its a gonner than :-( :-(

cheers guys

Andy

Sorry. I thought the open topped was the 125L Guess it didn't jump. I've had fish just disappear before and it drives me crazy! Hope you figure it out.
