Evening all, as some may be aware my tank is currently fishy cycling (not intenionally) and is almost there, all fishhave been fine until this morning when doing my usual head count I couldnt fins one of the platy's.

I eventually spotted her hiding under a pot, now I dont know the technical terms here, but the 2 fins which they are constantly flapping on either side of their body like wings, well one of them appears to be ripped off/bitten off/missing? there is some of it there but about 80% mssing?

any thoughts??

Erm...
Do you still have Gourami in the tank (if so likely culprit IMO), if not it may have been your filter or simply via getting caught on some decor.
How many quarantines have you got, if one is available;
Keep her alone in perfect water (regular changes) and using melafix as an antiseptic, sorted.

I had the same with a colisa labiosa;

Who is now fully healed after following this treatment....

Good luck :good:

I do have one quarantine/fry/rtbs tank which I could move her too, and I have some pimafix??

No, I took the dwarf's back as I should have taken your original advice lol

thanks germ

I noticed in your signature that you have a RTBS, if so the that could well be the culprit.

Not sure on Pimafix TBH, i'm sure someone'll post soon and let you know....
If it was me i'd add it either way until i could lay my hands on the melafix :dunno:
Is the RTBS in the quarantine tank?
If so i wouldn't add her, just in case.
Had the LFS had any problems with their Gourami?

Melafix is great and it will be fine to use as Germ suggested. Pimafix is more of a fungal treatment but I have known people to use this and Melafix combined with success.

No the RTBS is alone in the quarantine tank as I was planning on keeping him there either until I get the 5ft tank running or until he gets too big when I will take him to lfs, but he definately was not the culprit, its literally 3 female mollies, 3 female platys, one male platy and 3 corys in the tank

i just purchased a platy, and her left fin is totally not there, i believe she was born this way hehe. but she is very pretty anyhow

:D
