Its been at least 3 weeks since ive been on this site, the main reason being that for 3 weeks i havent had one single problem with my tank. The first 2 months went very badly with death after death, and then white spot etc. The last 3 weeks have been a pleasure, but i have noticed that my water is looking mirky. Up close i cant see any small particles but from a distance its actually difficult so see from one side of the tank to the other. The only change i have made is that i have started to drop in sinking pellet food. Could this be the problem..?

what colour is the murk?

a white cloudy water could be a bacterial bloom, often caused by cleaning filter media in tap water, or a particulate poblem; where there are too many ultra-fine particles that the floss lets back into the tank. this can be remiedied by adding a clumping agent that allows the small particles to clump together so the filter can stop them.

a gren cloud is normerly an algea bloom and performing a 48 hr blackout should solve that problem. If not then there are loads of chemicals on the market that will.

Thanks wolf, the mirk doesnt really have a colour to it, its just a cloudy mirk. It happened before to me but on closer inspection i noticed tiny particles. This time the water seems clear but is actually mirky..if that makes sense. The fish seem fine but its like the water has lost its life.?
