hi
need a new filter for our hosp tank just wondering if anyone has a recommendation. i need something small & cheap that i can whip out some filter floss from our main tank to put in it when its needed. did have a fluval 1 but wondering if anyone can recommend anything else, the fluval 1 was a little big for our little hosp tank.
thanks :)

I have an elite mini filter in a 15 litre tank, I bought it for £6.50 so they are nice and cheap.

I tried the fluval 1 first but it was too powerful for the tank but this one works fine.

Hi millym :)

Unless your hospital tank is tiny, an ordinary box filter, run by a small air pump, would do an excellent job and would not be expensive. Using carbon would not be necessary unless you add it to remove the meds after you have treated the fish.

If you buy a small air pump it should not be a problem, but if the water current it creates is too strong for the sick fish, you can also get an inexpensive valve which will bleed off some of the air before it reaches the filter. :D

Interpet do a tiny little box filter for just under a fiver. It comes with two little shaped pieces of foam and a bag of carbon. I've taken the carbon out and put floss in instead. Ihave it running in one of my larger tanks - ready to take out and put in my little hospital tank, in case of emergencies. Would only work for a tiny tank though. :D

rats just got one on ebay.....but it was only £3 total so not too bad!
and have to admit im not very good at diy/making/fixing things......
