Guys, how long would you expect a mini cycle to last for?
On Saturday I replaced my son's Fluval U3 with an Eheim Aquaball 130, but wasn't able to transfer over all of the media as the Aquaball doesn't have room for quite as much. I ended up transferring both sponges and about two thirds of the Biomax, but there was no room for the two poly-carbon pads and the rest of the Biomax.
Checked the nitrite level last night and it was somewhere between 0 and 0.25 ppm, so we did a 1 bucket water change and that returned the reading to zero. But, checked again this evening and have had to do a 2 bucket change as the nitrite tested at 0.25 ppm.
