mini asian set up

for my art class, i have decided to do my 3 prodjects for this quater on fish habitats. I already have the west african taken care of, and working on getting the south american set up.

The third one I am having a bit of trouble with though. I am going to be using my 5.5 gallon for my asian set up. The only fish I knbow that would be good for it is a betta fish.

I am looking for other fish that can be fine in there, it shouldnt be poermadent, just set up for a month or so. Also, what kind of plants decor should I use for an Asian set up?

FYI - you can't put anything in with a betta, even if it is for a short time.

actually you can. I have a female in my 55 gallon community tank right now and she gets along with everything, as do many other peoples bettas in tanks.

well, you can keep them with other fish as well too.

Yeah most fish shops I go to have a betta mixed with other fish, and they get along fine, seem in perfect condition etc

Put a plastic bonsai tree in with a betta and some snails -- specifically Pomacea bridgesii . Here's a pic of my little asia setup (3 gallons)

Not in a 5.5 really though. Theres not enough room, as most fish you can keep with a betta need to be in groups. Although you could do divided if you made it 'unobvious'....

huh, what about the dwarf rasborass?(sp) arent they asian, and dont get that big, like 1 inch? I have seen them at the lfs and like them.

I don't think they get very big, but school, and like to be in big groups methinks. Like 10 or more. As yvez9 said, try shrimp or snails (or ADFs... But they're african, aren't they?)
