Well if I look at my aquarium closely I can see what looks like little hairs in the water...

Is it just algae, and have you had it before?

Is there anyway of getting rid of it?

Thanks

Is it stuck to the glass and ornaments, etc? If so it is just algae. Is the tank new and cycled? algae blooms while the tank matures is normal and most will go away by themselves.

Using phosphate and nitrate removers in the filter will help as well, also adding some easy to grow plants while absorb the nutrients that the algae uses to grow (most floating plants are good for this).#

erm yeah some is on the ornament, plants and glass, but there's still loads swarming around the water, at a distance you can't see it, but as you get closer you can.

makes my plants look real bad too, the algae on them that is :( any type of fish or shrimp that will get rid of the algae clogs on the plants, ornament, glass and substrate?

Thanks

Depends on the size of tank, other fish already in there and what kind of algae it is.

I have some stuff that look like little white hairs ,but its just pieces of this sponge like item in the filter. Its loosing pieces of it. Im going to purchase a new filter/pump for my 10 gallon soon! Dont know if that helps or not! Good luck!

I used a bulldog plec for get fid of algea. No more grees stuff, I get hairs like yours now and they but I just sweep a net through the tank to catch them. I fo have LOADS of black hairy stuff on my ornaments, but I think it looks quite nice so I introduced a few algea eating shrimp to see it they would control it. I have not seen them since I popped them in the tank!
