Min. Tank Size?

I have a 46gal bowfront tank that I would like to set up as a biotope.

Looking through the African chichlids it seems this tank is a bit too small for most.

I was wondering if I could go with some type of peacock set-up? And if so, what kind of Malawi community is possible?

My water out of the tap is perfect for African Chichlids...hard and 8.4ph

seems pretty small for what you're looking for, as to my knowledge malawis need a 55 gallon 4 foot standard in most cases, but I'm no expert.

You could look into a tanganyikan community, things like julidochromis, brichardis, stuff like that, if there are no suitable malawis out there.
