Ok...I have two female platies in a tank with one male platie and some other fish. One of the ladies looks very pregnant and the other looks like a possible but not as fat yet.The male was constantly shadowing the bigger of the two.So I moved him and also moved the male betta. That leaves the two females in the tank with three cories and some ghost shrimp. They have a large silk plant,a smaller plastic plant, and a large pagoda ornament.

I've not yet had fry so this would be a first. Not having a breeder net and not wanting to stress the females by removing them,I thought moving the more aggressive fish was the best option. Is it possible that if there are fry they will be able to keep away from the adult fish and the shrimp?

I could try to find a breeder net for future use,but the one female is looking ready to bust a seam.So I thought I'd try to save any fry that might come before I can get one.I have seen her look this big once before but never saw fry so I'm guessing she got stressed and lost them or she had them and they were eaten before I saw them

Thanks for any input.

Oh well...thanks anyway

She isn't looking quite so fat today.Don't see any fry but I don't really know how small they'd be or if some could be hiding.

Platy fry are very small when born. They can swim fast too. But most first time platy moms do eat there young. After the second or 3rd time most of the fry will not be ate. I hope you have some live.

Thanks...I just wish I were more confident about all this.I guess once you see them go through it a few times it gets better. She's still pretty big and has what looks to me like a gravid spot.I went ahead and got a breeder net and she is in it now.If nothing else,at least she's getting used to it :D
