can anyone suggest a middle swimmer or two for my tank. its between 15 gallon hex.

i have 7 neons who hang around the bottom, 3 guppies who chill at the top and soon will be intro ducing a bristlenose pleco. therefore the middle looks bare

also could i add anything else to the tank??

substrate is gravel, live plants, wood and pots for hiding places if that will make a difference.

cheers

All i would reccomend is more tetras, lol. They're the most middle dwelling fish i know of, maybe try black neons or glowlights this time say 3 or 4. Your bristlenose will eventually need a bigger home by the way, would be better to settle on say 5 pygmy cories for your bottom dwellers.

Your neons shouldn't be hanging around the bottom of the tank all the time, they realy are the most middle dwelling of middle dwelling fish you can get...Are you sure water stats are good?

water stats are perfect. they have been doing it for almost 9 months when i got them

If you're getting a bristlenose, you realy don't have enough space left but you can always check out

If theres any plecs you can get, they'll be listed there- use the search engine options to reduce the number of ones available a bit as there are thousands.
Personally i just raise you neon levels a bit by 3 but thats it.

The neons shouldn't really be always on the bottom. I would make sure your water was ok before thinking of adding fish.

I really like my Red Serpae Tetras. They hang out in the middle all the time. They tend to chase and nip at each other but leave everyone else alone. They only grow to about 1.5"-2".
I also have a tank with a few dwarf gouramis that hang aroun in the middle mostly and they look great too. I have 2 of the orange-striped and 2 of the blue-striped dwarf gouramis.

Good Luck!

For a catfish, both otos and corydoras are much smaller than plecos, though corys are shoaling, so you would need to keep at least 3.

I have dwarf gouramis to and they stay round the middle, also got white widow and black widow tetra which are middle swimmers and they are cool.
By the way how do you tell the difference between male and female dwarf gouramis? (cheers for any advice)

Congo Tetras(best kept in a group of 4 or more) will occupy the middle of your tank, mine always "hang out" in the middle unless it is feeding time. Congos ar really nice looking fish, they have tangarine stripes, with irridescent sides ans long fins, on of the nicer looking tetras in my opinion. You can also populate it with diamond tetras, a little bit smaller then the congos but have a nice silvery sides and a red sport above the eyes.
