Mid To High Dwellers

my tank is looking empty even with....

1 fat talking cat,
6 x corys ( 3 x peppered and 3 x bronze )3 x julli to come
1 adult female bn,
2 clown plecos.
and 2 stray zebra danios.

the plecos are not always out, as expected with the species and the same charecteristics follow with the talking cat ( frank ), so im in need of some mid to high tank dwellers that are known to be peaceful and if possible are not fin nippers.
i have loads of wood with plenty of cavitys for hiding places, sand substrate and tall camboma?(spelling) live plants.

i was thinking of chilids?,rams?labs?

tank spec is...

50uk gallons
78f
2 x fluval plus 4's
exellent water conditions

hi, i wouldn't go for any cichlids, as they are mainly bottom dwellers, and shouldn't be kept with corys. personally, i'd get some rainbow fish.

hi, i just read up on halfbeaks and apparently they need a species only tank, eat smaller fish and get scared if bigger fish are in the tank.lol what do you have in your tank?

Celebe Halfbeaks don't need species tanks. Hows about a big school of something?

these arn't gonna make a massive dent in the bioload.

those are all great suggestions ianho , a large shoal of rummy nose tetras would look sweet. do you think they would be ok with black widow tetras? im thinking a large shoal of both would look amazing. somthing like 15-18 rummy's and 8-10 black widows?

hi, the rummy's, and cherry barbs stay near the bottom, and the cardinals bottom to middle. the harlequins would work though. how about copper harlequins (Trigonostigma hengeli)? i still think that rainbows are a good idea.

hi pest control, rainbows are definatly a good idea also im really looking for the larger shoaling fish.chilids were my first thought but i now know there not compatible
with my current stocking.i may go for a large shoal of mixed mid to highs.3 or 4 different species like, tetras,danios,harlequins, and some rummys for good measure.would that work?

I have to disagree about mixing cories and cichlids, in some cases its unsuitable but other times its absolutley fine and infact in some cases its actually a good mix for many reasons. Only reason I can see it being bad is if they intruded on spawning cichlids and upset a territory. Dont forget there are thousands of cichlid species and all have differing levels of aggression and different levels of tolerance of other fish. If you have had issues with your kribs and cories by all means sway people away from that mix but not mixing cories and cichlids in general.

For the OP have you thought of silver hatchets? As adults they look awesome they get quite large and really do hang off the waters top
