Good morning. I am waiting out a mini-cycle right now, but am looking to get some fish that will swim more mid-level. My current setup is in my siggy, but with the exception of the Pleco, they all hang around the top of the tank. What would you suggest for middle swimmers? I might get a small angel fish later as well, so please keep that in mind.

The neons and blacks will become more mid when their shoal numbers are brought up. Let's see, other mid ideas... rummy noses (watch the size though, these get bigger than many other tetras.. in other words everyones suggestions eventually must be put through the sizing/stocking mill of calculations for your tank) glowlights, head&tailights, cherry barbs, school of pygmy cories, trio of honey gouramis (maybe these would hang at the top though..), pair of angels of course as you mentioned, or pair of GBRs but would these stay low in the tank? not sure, haven't had them, ... sigh, must go to lunch

my harlequin rasboras are almost always swimming in the mid level of my tank. they like to school back & forth or hang around the decor in the middle.

but sometimes it honestly depends on their personality. i had 3 hatchets one time, and two of them stayed at the top (as hatchets do) and the other liked to meander in the mid-level. so who knows, lol.

harlequins get my vote. 6 or more....but maybe the neons would become mid swimmers in number of 6+..dont know as not had them..prefer harleys

Praecox rainbows are the middle-grounders in my tank. Nice shoal of 10 or so, they look lovely and shoal really well :) :good:
