Hi everyone! I just bought a pair of swordtails and came across this site while looking up info about them. I guess these guys aren't too common. The picture isn't great but he is beautiful. His body is much lighter than the other swords that the store had, almost gold/yellow. I also picked out a female who looks pregnant; I can't wait to see what happens. I'm excited to be getting back into the hobby, but now I'm thinking I shouldn't have given away my 29G setup. LOL.

The mickey mouse swordtail has been around for a bit. It is simply a MM platy x with a swordtail. And that takes us full circle I think with the original MM platy being a swordtail x platy originally. Not quiter but most platies have swordtail in them. It was one of the first xs in the aquarium industry. They did it to get new colours in the two common platy species, Xiphophorus maculatus & X. variatus.

The pic is of a nice fish tho

I have a greyish green Micky mouse Female Swordtail. She is gorgeouss, and big! BTW, Very nice fish.
