Ive put these in here because they kinda are fishy pics, but if they want to be moved, go for it!

So today, i went together with the students from my Prof Skills class too a place called SARDI, or the South Australian Research and Developement Institute, and their marine science labs and i took quite a few photos!

Here are some abloni and oyster facilities. They research alot on these two species and are studying several techniques using genetic manipulation to produce faster growing and larger produce...

These are large "tubs" for the culturing of macroalgae to feed to planktonic life they feed fry...

They have over 15 water craft with a total value wel over $1m. :eek: With the largest craft housing a crew of four for a trip over 3000 nuatical miles.

And here are the vats they use to produce seaweeds and algae to re-introduce into the wild, our sea grass beds depleted over 3 days buy asa much as 70% due to extreme temps in 1996!?!??!?! :( So they are trying different methods of re-introduction!

They havre two resources really. They have an underwater drilled hole approx. hundreds of metres deep where they pump fresh water. And they take saltwater fresh from the source, but put it through a variety of processes to remove all the nasties. Quite a job. And thousands of dollars worth too.... :unsure: wouldnt want to press the wrong button! :p
