Mentioned this before but it's getting annoying now!

My fully grown adult male Tropheus Duboisi is acting strangely.....almost constantly.

He goes up and down, up and down the front left hand corner of the tank time after time and hits the thermometer making it tap. Then he shoots up the other end and does the same. After a while he stops and just happily swims around slowly for several minutes. Then it all kicks off again. This behavior happens even when no one is in the room so it's not for food.

Now someone suggested that, as a shoaling fish, being species alone is making him act this way. So firstly, would that be an agreeable answer among you cichlid experts and if so what do I do about it now? Adding another or more would surely entice a fight?

Any comments welcomed

I suppose it could be because he's alone either that or he's just a strange fish. If you were to decide to add more, adding them as juveniles should lessen the chance of aggression.

He is a strange one alright! When I move all the rocks around he seems happier just swimming around. His strange behavior seems to start a couple of days later
