Does melafix supposed to make your water smell funny?

Depends on how you define "funny".

My BettaFix (same as MelaFix only at 2% instead of 1% Melaleuca concentration) smells kinda like liquorice or that "vapor rub" stuff.

its smells of tea tree oil....because thats all it is (and distilled water) it does work a tret though on injuries and torn fins
