I thought I'd check out a new Petco at another location and the folks there were just unloading 100+ new bettas and this dude happened to go onto the counter.. I was hovering between a red scaled gold highlight DT/PK/HM hybrid and a cambodian of the same mix when I spotted this monster. You can bet I called dibs on him even though I knew I'd be paying a bit of a pretty penny for him. My number of bettas have slowly reduced from five girls to 1 and two males, and my two 10 gal tanks on my bedstand looked pretty empty with a bichir in one and an eel in the other living peacefully burrowed in gravel up to his snout with the remaining female.

The current name is temporary until a real one sets in and he has a mottled red-gold beard and is actually white pearl instead of the pinkish hue you see here. His blue eyes are also rather striking.

nice plakat :) he looks so grumpy! I love him
thanks for sharing
cheers

Great looking guy, it's a shame he won't smile for the camera!

Grumpy fish who's very aware of his surroundings XD I put a mirror up next to him in his 10 gal tank and he'll poof up, but as soon as I remove it the gill retreats and he looks at me like "What..?"

He seems to have developed a liking for the hollow behind my filter intake that the chamber and outtake forms and for a big white fish he can hide VERY well... >_> All he has to do is drift even behind a few of the silk spiderplant leaves and you can barely make him out XP.

It sounds quite fun to watch him. I really aught to get a betta, I've always been interested in them but never found the time to start another tank for one. I might buy a small but not too small tank for one, around 20 litres.

hmm, 5 gal/20L sounds about right for a smaller betta - Kings are one pf the biggest species of betta and would most likely be happier in my guess in a tank around 10 gal/40L.

Have you seen the ridiculous tank on eBay that is "perfect" for a betta?

I'll find a link for you if not.

No, this is it:

Urgh, there are fancier versions of the box - one had three goldfish in it and far too many plants XP

I wouldn't even put a plant in that "tank."

Wilkinson sell bigger, cheaper and probably better quality tanks than that!

I just have my guppy fry currently in a quarantine holder as they're still small, but soon I'll be graduating them to a larger gallon tank before deciding which ones to keep and which ones not to. And momma guppy is looking plump again ¬.¬

Hehe, thanks - plus I've not seen a betta with copper/gold rays on the tail like he does o_O

Guppys were a bit of a b**ch to me, they get pregnant too easily and too often! In the end I just let the fry try cope themselves in the main tank... -_-

My problem was they kept dying on me XP I got three in this batch with the mamma, and the male and other female got sucked up against the filter within a day of each other RIGHT AFTER the day I got them XP Poor female is now isolated in a 3 gal section of the tank with the heater while the platy, variatuses and cories live in the rest with the filter. She seems happy though as it is.
