I've had Cowboy my male Betta for a little while now, just haven't said much about him yet!

Anyways, here he is!:

I fell in love with him right away at the LPS and had to get him! When I first brought him home he was quite shy, but wow he's definitely Mr. Personality! And he flares at almost anything! Even me! When I feed him he begs like a dog too- funny man! I promise, more pics to come!

I am a little concerned about his tail though...it looks to be tattered and I am not sure why...fin rot? Or maybe he's not a VT? Or maybe it's cause he's got that plastic plant in there with him with sorta sharp tips?

Well, what a cutie!
I don't know how some bettas manage to pack so much personality into what's really such a very small fish, but they sure do.

Good job you're on the ball about the plastic plants - sure as shootin', anything that bettas can rip fins on, they will.
So, you're totally right about removing that plastic plant ASAP.
In fact, it'd recommended to use real or silk plants with bettas or other flowing-finned fish. (Say that 3 times fast, I dare ya, lol.)

I don't know if you have any Melafix, to help his fins heal, and you probably know that many people use a half or 3/4 dose with bettas, so as not to get suckered into paying twice as much for half as much with watered-down 'special betta remedies'.
But I'm sure you'll keep a close watch for any sign of further tattering or any discolouration or fungusing of that lovely little tail.
It's kind of hard to make out details on him, though, so we need MORE PICS PLEASE!!!
Congratulations on a lovely find, and I hope to SEE MORE OF HIM.
Not that I'm hinting for more pics or anything...

What a lovely betta.

I had plastic plants in mine to. Although his fins wern't ripped I took them out just to be safe and planted real one :)

He is a pretty boy! I use silks in my Betta tanks, combined with some real plants........

Thanks ya'll...I'll get more pics of him later! Right now I gotta get ready for class!

I have plastic plants in with my Bettas, but I feel em over before I'll buy em...in this case, that one plastic plant came in a pack soOo...well it's gonna get removed aSAP!

And yea I do have Melafix...but maybe I should put Cowboy in a smaller container w/o the filter so that the remedy can work? Won't it get filtered thru with the filter?
