Meet Chilli

Nice BA !

They can be really feisty little gits can't they !

I currently have a stunning 3" male BA bully in with a load of sevs and a choc, and he doesn't hesitate to try and throw his weight around at every opportunity. Not convinced my situation is going to work out, but I will persevere.

I know that feeling!! she may get moved tank. Do you have any pics of your male Hamfist, mine has a breeding tube partially down this morning (I know my water  ), but its more pointed making me think this is male, but the fins and head shape are more female?

He/she seems more settled this morning thankfully, but she does not like severums much

lol i know that 1 all too well . my w/c female was a total nightmare . even tho it was the smallest cichlid in the tank it was always kicking off. i think thney suffer from the fish equivelent of small man syndrome

Very pretty! As you know I had a GT that was sold to me as a BA. From what I have seen and heard of the BA's, I don't think they are much more mild mannered than the GT anyway! They all seem s$ds

I see I am not the only one having problems with my Acara. I re-scaped the tank with more caves and it only made matters worse. He is the smallest in my tank as well and is keeping my full grown Severum and Tinfoils on one end of the tank.

The only shot I have at the moment is this one ...

As of yesterday, he's gone all "hormonal" and gone very black, fins all up in display-mode , and is lurking oddly around the bottom. Looks quite impressive actually, but not quite sure what he's up to ! He's certainly been leaving the sevs alone a bit more.

Wow hamfist he is a cracker, mine doesnt have the point on the dorsal fin, maybe young yet, but I thought at 3" it would be visible. Thankfully he/she has settled in ok now, the 3 geo albios had enough and chased her round the tank, now she is behaving (for the time being)

I keep my female Blue acara with the big boys. She is the smallest Cichlids in the tank so she acts like the perfect angle. She holds her own with the big boys but is smart about it. After all she killed her mate by stressing him out.

She looks great just keep her with your big boys and it will all be good. :good:

PS: The one you have looks just like mine and she is a 100% female I saw her lay eggs. The pointed fins don't mean anything imo. Its all about the head shape. Mine is 4" and 3 years old her head is that same shape as yours with a nice slope. My male had a more boxy head shape they both has the same fins.
