Meds

Just curious as to what meds people prefer for their fish....I have a bottle of API Melafix and a bottle of Wardley Ick Away in case any problems arise. Will this be enough should something happen? Or would it be best that I invest in some other treatment options?

depends on what u need them for

i wouldent buy any meds to just keep around as they expire and it could be a waste of money, dont buy any meds until u need them IMO

It's always better to prevent disease than to try to cure it. Regular water changes and good diet go a long way toward keeping fish healthy.

In many cases, a hospital/quarantine tank is as important to have as medicine.

Melafix, Maracryn, and Quick Cure are good thing's to keep around in case of something. And IMAO, medicine's will stay good if you dont open them!!!!!!! Hope this help's!

I second what Inchworm said, the best preventive medicine is fresh water, and by far the cheapest. Of course a proper diet goes hand in hand with that.

What you can do, since most meds do have an expiration date, is keep the information of local shops concerning what meds they normally stock, and their hours. Most any shop stocks Maracyn and MaracynII, along with ich meds and meds for internal protozoans. Even if you have a smallish tank you should have at least a Rubbermaid tub that can be pressed into service as a med/quar tank.

Aye, I do regular changes and feed him high grade food.

Yes, I don't have them opened, and they're stored in a cool dark place. I'm not asking because my fish is sick, I'm just curious as to what meds people use for various illnesses.
