So, my 15 gallon planted tank is home to female bettas, corydoras, and a couple otocinclus.
This tank is dosed with the following:
-Flourish (once a week)
-Flourish Excel (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)

My bettas, while I was on vacation for 2 weeks, attacked each other pretty brutally, and because their water was slightly-less than pristine as no one was here to clean their tank/filter, I came back to a minor case of fin rot, but I wanted to clear it up quickly.

I did daily water changes on the tank, and added T.C. Tetracycline to the tank (by API). The pouches do 10 gallons, and as I've got the sensitive Corys and otos in the tank, I only dosed one pouch each time, instead of the recommneded 1.5 pouches.

This treatment occurred for the span of 1 week. Over the course of that period, the newer leaves of my Hygrophila Polysperma turned a gorgeous pink-colour with the green-veining on the leaves. The leaves were very much alive, and absolutely gorgeous. This plant has been in this tank for months and NEVER shown colour like this. Prior to being in the 15 gallon, this plant was in my 46 gallon and 5 gallon tank. I trimmed approximately 7" off the top of the plant before the first dose of the medications.

The colour change only occurred in my hygrophila polysperma. The tank also contains amazon sword, crypt. wendtii (tropica and Red), crypt lutea, & java fern.

I dont know what it was in the medication that caused the colour change in my hygro, but the colour was gorgeous, and I'd love to have it that colour permanently. Is there a Flourish-type product I can add to my tank to get that colour from the plant?

Sorry for the crummy pix. They're from my cellphone. My normal camera has gone MIA.

You probably have the hygrophila variation "rosanervig". Gorgeous plant but not sure there is any correlation between the new leaves and the meds you added. If there is i have no idea why!

Mine was lovely and pink until i pruned the tops off. The pink hasn't returned since :( but I'm hoping with time it'll return!

Ive had this plant for a good year and a half and NEVER seen this colouration in that time. This is all cuttings from my original plants, as I only purchased one bundle of it, and then watched it multiply like weeds in my tanks. I get ~2" of growth from this plant every week, which means it has to be trimmed every two weeks, otherwise it starts to take over the surface of my tank and cut off light to my other plants.

The plant has ALWAYS been a lovely bright green colour. I've never seen pinks in them until I added this medication, which is leading me to believe that the medication caused a change in what nutrients/etc. were available to my plants. The colouring was gorgeous. It's fading now that I've done water changes to remove the medication.
