Media To Cucle Tank

I know a few people that have good running tanks. What doI ask for when needing some media to help kick start my fishless cycing tank...?? is it water. or something from the filters???


I read also that you can post maybe on here to find someone that will send you media to help with cycling.

It is the stuff inside of the filter it is called filter cartridges

ok I thought thatis what they were talking about. Is that a better way to go the useing ammonia . do i get a whole cartrige or just some what from inside the filter Thanks for your responce.

If you could get media from someone that would be super.

They can give you 1/3 of their filter media (cartridge or floss or ceramic beads) without harming their tank/fish/cycle! Once you've added the media to your filter (make sure that it is stored in tank water during the trip back to your house so the bacteria won't get killed) then you can add 1/3 of the amount of fish that your media donor has in his/her tank! Make sure you add them right away so your media won't starve!!!

And always, always dechlorinate your water before adding it to your tank, chlorine will kill the bacteria, but I'm sure you know that already! lol
