Media Question

I have just got a hospital tank but I don't want to keep the pump running 24/7 365 days a year as this tank will probably only be used a few weeks of the year, So I want to know how you guys store your mature media? I was thinking just putting the media in a bucket of water from the tank? would this work? or does anyone have any better solutions?

I just grab media from my main tank's filter and put it in a smaller filter(the filter that will be on the hospital tank). This way you will know that the bacteria will be ready at a moments notice.

place a small sponge filter in your main tank out the way and transfer it over when needed, when finished wash it out and put it back.

I didn't think about just removing some mature media and putting in my other filter, thanks for the tip
