When people talk about their tank size i.e litres or gallons... Do they measure from the external or internal part of the tank?

It dosnt really make a difference, the glass is so thin the ammount it effects the volume is really not worth worrying about.

What does make a BIG difference is substrate and the fact that you dont fill to the top. My 70 Gal only has about 58 Gal of water in it.

So do I have a 58Gal or 70Gal for stocking perposes ?
