Hey,

Picked up 4 Mbuna from my LFS on weekend.

Got them home and introduced them to my tank, they're the first in the tank.

Tank has cycled etc. Ph 8.2 Hardness 11-12

However, one seems to be scratching himself on the substrate

They all appear healthy and are moving quickly & feeding well, he is yellow and it is difficult to see if there is any marks etc for early velvet.

Is this common with malawis?

Should I treat now or wait a while & do a few water changes?

I tested the water from my LFS and was surprised to find a hardness of kH of 4...

Any advise?

This is probably just a sign of aggressive/territorial behaviour and is very common with Mbuna. If it is a disease you should be able to tell by looking closely at the fish, despite the colour. I would just keep an eye on them for the next couple of days unitl you are sure and only use the medication if you have to.
