hi i want to set up spare 55 gal tank as either tanganyikan or mbuna, not sure which way to go. I really like mbuna but wondered if it poss to stock frontosa,Tropheus bemba, T.Ikola or T.Dubosi with them or is this a definate no..no :dunno:
Advice appreciated Angel

IMHO if I had the opportunity I would set up a species tank of T.Dubosi. 55 gallon might be a touch on the small side though! Most tropheus are best kept in species specific tanks due to their aggressive nature.

My LFS has had a tank of juvenile T.Dubosi for the last 6 months and everyone just seems to ignore them. There are very pretty little fish and the juveniles look so very cool with their white spots. I would love to get my hands on them!! "If only I had enough cash to fork out 40 euro per fish!!!!! and then the associated large tank and filtration to go with them".

do they lose their spots? thats a shame, i thought the black fish with white spots was adult, they look good like that . With the size of my tank i might be better off with mbuna. I`ll look up the Tropheus to see the varietys, i want to have different colours.
I keep Discus and spend my time making soft water for them, so it will be good to use my hard tap water for a change. Can anyone recommend a mix with bright colouring that are relatively peaceful for my first mbuna tank.
Also 1 male/2-3 female ratio is what i`ve heard recommended, but also some keep just males does this work out ok?
Advice appreciated Thanks Angel
