Mayan Ruins: Betta And Kuhli Loaches

Woo! Got our betta! His name is flare. Tank animals now complete. Just gotta add some nice plants.

Flare is so pretty, I would like to get a picture of him flaring his gills sometime (yeah right, probably not unless I sit by the tank with the camera) and the tank looks really nice, love!

From an eBay purchase. Not sure if we tied it down right... Lapka (pictures) loved it.

Don't think the fake plant and the java fern go well together. The fake one will eventually be replaced, hopefully by the java moss pictures if it starts growing!!

Thanks you two.. good to hear. Although I think the final look will be quite different from what is seen now. My love and I want to make the back wall entirely java moss. I think it's still missing a focus too - need to look into that. Any suggestions?

Here is a picture journal of the moss wall. Hope it grows!

^We used the left-over moss from the slate project (see up). It's been floating in an unlit, unheated tank for a couple of weeks now.

^This is how it's attached to the tank itself. We stick the suction cup through the bigger part first, with the smaller hole's friction keeping it in place. Has a surprisingly sturdy hold.

^Used archery string-serving material. It's all we had.

^Yay moss! Did it as thin as time would permit.

^Here's me holding the finished product. Took forever to tie.

^Ugly now. Will hopefully look better a month from now. 1.5 WPG, no fert, no CO2.

Actually, fish killer has a totally valid point. I don't think that moss will grow if it's vertical, you might want to lean it back just a hair for a while to help it establish on your grid.

Agreed, you have to remember the angle of light that will be hitting that wall. A) It is getting a very slim amount of lighting and B) Alot of the lighing will be blocked by the mesh.

I'm curious to see how it turns out though, if the wall doesn't work that way i'd say put it in your extra tank again and let it grow out for a month or two first and then move it back.

I realize this is old, but any updates as I am considering the same thing?
