Mature Media

when i get my next tank i will be looking to buy some mature media from 1 of the members listed in this forum, what i would like to know is do they have to have he same type of filter ie i will be using a tetrtec ex1200 so would i have to find somebody with the same?

It doesn't have to be the same kind of filter. It sometimes helps for it to be similar enough to have the same media, but even that's not important. I could take ceramic rings out of my canister and you could put them in a filter bag in a hanging filter, or I could cut a piece out of the sponge in a hanging filter and it could be inserted into a canister.
