Ok so I have the Tanganyika tank on the go now and as my other post asks about crabs etc I would also like to consider a non cichlid shoal to make the tank less empty

thoughts......

some danios either zebra or leopard maybe long finned? or

some barbs....either rosey or what about neon barbs?

Not a big tank so what do you think

Now that's one I don't know for sure. I've always been instructed not to mix lakes (Malawi and Tanganyika), let alone continents. Thing is, the fish won't communicate well w/eachother. They don't know the get the heck outta my area that the cichlids will show until they start getting chased/mulled. There are others that do keep them w/community fish anyway. So I guess I don't know what to tell you for sure other than I'd rather not. But then we wouldn't be where we are in fishing keeping these days w/out some experimentation from the people before us.

Yes I get your point. Members use some fish as dithers for helping shy and large fish to come out in the open.

I don't have shy fish at all, infact they have been exploring from the moment they arrived but I would like a bit of 'free water' activity too
*edit*
Ok, so I have done what I should have done in the first place....reseached!
Forget the neon barbs......cooler, soft water required which as we all know is the opposite to my Tanganyika's :look:
