Yep, that's Stewart, he finishes off her scraps and keeps the tank algae free.

What filter do you run in her tank?

There's the propriatory Juwel internal filter, plus there's an external Fluvel 404 in place.

Does Martha eat dry foods too?

Ha! I wish!
No, Martha only eats live, fresh or frozen foods. she doesn't even recognise processed foods as edible.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Although obvious lol, could you not breed snails?

I placed a small tank, with java moss, and riccia scraps, in the direct sun, and within weeks small snails grew. Im sure apple snails or ramshorns could propagate pretty high rates? :dunno: With some lettuce, and high lighting?

Enough to produce 20 large adult snails a day? I doubt it.

I've already pretty much stripped all but the smallest snails out of a friend's large garden pond in just three months!

didnt you have a bichir in there too? or am i remembering wrong

I love that fish. I can tell you know what you are doing. I want me one of them, unfortantly you cant buy them here. The lady at the fish store cant get them in for some reason..

wow she's massive and beautiful
15-20 large pond snails, thats alot :hyper:

How is Julian doing sirminion?

Martha looks awesome, I'm glad my dwarf puffers aren't as messy as her, they like to leave the shell intact (But that is probably just because I don't give them tiny snails :p)

No, you remember correctly, Julian the 17 inch Ornate Bichir is in the pipe on the left of the tank.

He's doing great, getting very cheeky with Martha when he sometimes steals her dinner from right under her nose.

How big do Fahaka puffers get and what size tank do they need?

Up to 18 inches, although 15 is more common in an aquarium.
Martha went from two inches to 13 inches in 7 months!

A single fahaka requires a tank of a minimum of four feet by two feet by two feet and preferably larger. This may seem small, but they're not very active fish.

Martha will be upgraded to a 6x2x2 soon.
