I have purchased 2 pots of marsilea hirsuta, to use as a carpet when rescaping my tank. The plants are around 10cm tall at the moment, and I was advised to plant them as they are and then trim it as it sends out runners. However, I saw in a planting tutorial, someone simply copped off the tall leaves, to make it an 3 or 4 cm instead, and then cut them into seperate plants. Could I do it like what I just said there? Cutting it now, and then allowing it to form a dense carpet?

Trimming always promotes side shoots and keeps it compact so I'd keep trimming, can replant the tops too and spread it around. :)
