Right, as some of you know I would love a yellow banded maroon clown but I have a small pair of common clowns (and they are going no where).

I have been looking around and some people seem to be getting away with keeping one maroon with a pair of percs - do you think it is worth me taking the risk?

hi

they will be ok but it has to be the last clown fish added to your tank but if your commen clowns share there anemone you have to get a sepret on for the morron cllowns

I am interested in this too Seffie, when I bought my Percs, I never envisaged a 6 ft tank, would like to put a pair of Maroon in, not sure if it would work though.

it will work but you can not add anymore clowns into the tank after they will go in they would be ok in your tank Ti

regards scott

Its for the upgrade to 6ft. Won't have it just yet, need to decorate after giving mum my 55g freshwater but its nice to know I could get away with them.

Looks like I will need to buy two nems at the same time when I get to the stage I can put nems in.

Dont mean to hijack lol... but does that mean your moms getting your queens to hun?

I wondered how long it would take to you to ask about the L260's Jenclibee. I am keeping my 20g and just keeping the 2 L260's in it. Gonna give them a good shot at breeding that way I think.

I am giving her a breeding pair of angels 2 pairs of rams, and 3 BN's. She is one lucky s*d. It does mean I can still see my fish though.

If you read my journal in salty, it explains what I am doing.

I think there is aguy in hull selling a pair of maroon clowns, I can find out for either of you if you are interested

It will be at least a couple of months before I even get the 6 foot up and running. Cannot risk them with my percs in my present 40g.

You know me hun, never miss an opportunity to try and get the 260's off ya :p

I know you have to try, but they still mine :p

Sorry seffie. Hijacked slightly.

No problem Tina - I love the conversation type bits that we have on this forum :good:

Owl, thanks - is it the pair on UR?

Scott - thanks, you have made my day, I was thinking the same thing - I have seen so many larger tanks with two pairs of clowns, one pair common perc and the other maroons that I started to think mmmmmm, just maybe it is possible :good:

I have two nems, not that, that matters as the percs host a toadstool  - thinking I might move the toadstool to the other end of the tank instead of it being in the middle, then the maroons will go in Bill at the other end, what do you think?

If you go with the Maroons aswell, I would definately move the toadstool to the other end. There is less chance of any problems them. It would help if Bill and Ben were at either end just in case the percs see the other clowns hosting and decide they want a go to. :good:

I would have to get two, my percs have hosted a nem before, they were in a tank on their own with a bubble tip nem when I bought them. Thats why I am planning on eventually getting nems. (now plural as 6 ft would be great).

Sorry for hijacking (seems common on this thread  ), I would like to get my cowns to host but my tank is abit too small for a nem (do they do dwarf ones??), what other coral would you suggest? My two clowns have definetly paired & it wuld look cool :hyper:

My percs that had the nem in the shop have hosted from day 1. Firstly the powerhead, then my frogspawn  it didn't like it. I then did a bit of reading and found that they seem to like Rhodactis indosinensis otherwise known as hairy mushrooms, as per the pic in my sig.

Seffies pair host her Leather but mine were never interested in that. Apparently the hairy mushrooms are quite a common substitute.
