Marineland Aquarium Light Timer

I feel like an idiot because I cannot figure out this stupid timer!! I followed the instructions that came with it, but I don't think I did it right. Can anyone give me directions if you've used this product? Everywhere I've searched says it so easy, but I don't get it!! I must be missing something.
Please help!!
