Marine Rock

Hi i have been given some marine rock and i was hoping to put it in my tropical tank..its just rock..nothing it living on it! Its white chalky rock ..If its ok to put into my tropical tank shud i let it sit in boiling water first for a while?

Can you get a picture for it?

As I think its more than likely Oceon Rock not the marine live rock.

If its Oceon Rock - just get a bucket of water, put it in give it a good shake and then its fine.

Yeah looks to me that its oceon rock. Some of the bits seem to be abit dirty/algea on them. Like I said just get a bucket of water, put a peice in give it a good shake etc. and it will be fine

What fish do you have in ur community?

This rock is best with cichlids.

All you have to do is see if each individual community fish you have can withstand high ph, as it raises the ph in the water. I think that most community fish are ok though (could be wrong)

I have 2 mollies, 2 sword tails, 2 honey guarmies, 2 black phantoms, 3 rainbows, 1 pleco, an 2 rams. so whats the difference between ocean rock an marine rock lol?

Im not to sure tbh, dont know a lot on the marine side.
Just see if them fish can withstand high ph
