Hello,
i'm new to the forums but it looks all very good and interesting.
i've been setting up trpoical tanks for a while and seen as I have had no major problems I have decided to buy a new tank and go for some Marine fish!
so.....£600 later!!!!! I'm wishing I haden't bothered....and I don't even have any fish yet.
I think I need some reassuring that this is worth it! I have had bad luck with filters and tanks. :(

gosh £600 is a lot of money

what problems have you had?

maybe this post would be best in the saltwater section, you'll get more reefers in there who can help you. we've just set up our first marine tank and I'm infinately grateful to those guys for helping me out :D

We bought a 2nd hand Ehiem Kristall (bloody octagon) from a friend (who is now in the Middle East), and filled it up, treated it, sorted it out (took 3 weeks) and basically the seals perrished and it was leaking everywhere. We emptied it and dried it and sealed it...OK so 3 weeks later...it leaks again from another point...now it's in the bin. Lesson learned...don't buy 2nd hand tanks.
So now we have a vision 180 (in box in middle of room), so we are starting again, but we bought an Ehiem proII which has cost some money! This is how we have mannaged to spend so much money.
I spent so much time on the Kristall that I have lost some enthuasim for our new tank, but everytime I look at the kind of fish I want I get some back.
Anyway (talking rubbish), can anyone help me out with exactly what I need to put in the tabnk to be able to run it well! I have UV filter...that's it!
D
