Hey,

Just me thinking aloud on this forum, really ...

I've posted in the nano forum about my recent marine woes, and I'm still experiencing some major issues with a screwed bio filter and having to do partial daily water changes and use ammo lock to keep fish healthy.

But, coming from keeping a large tank full of tropical freshwater malawis, I'm sat here staring at my maroon clown thinking "you are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen." So vibrant and beautiful in colour, and the royal gramma is unreal (but not as daft as the M/C).

I think I'll never go back to F/W fish!

mate thats only the start, you will sopon be selling up your tank of malawis and replacing it with a large reef tank. lol

i initially had 4 fw tanks but sold them up in due time only to replace with 2 large'ish marine tanks! and even now i am thinking about getting a really large marine tank and doing away with both smaller ones! crazy business mate i tell ya

Have to agree, tokk me less than a year to be thinking surely I don't need that brackish tank anymore and that nano is far too small for what i want to keep - now have a five footer sitting in my dinning room waitng to be activated

It's real funny, because the planning in salty world is just as much fun as the tank it self, never found that to be true on the other side

lol, that is true, the planning is one of the best bits IMO.

But its the corals for me that I enjoy

Not sure I'm going to go down the coral route. Looks like so much hassle! And I'm loath to put live rock in my tank because I fear worms -- euw

My nano was set up two months when I spotted a bargain 39 gallon, its sat in my living room now, awaiting activation as is Seffies.
My 55g freshwater is just about safe for a little while, it has some L260 plecs in there.

i would recommend starting off as FOWLR in your tank as LR acts as biological filteration for your tank and can save you having to get yourselfsome form of filter. the worms are not that bad but if you really are not that keen on them then you could always buy some sort of wrasse or other fish that eats them as natural food so will dramatically limit the amount you have in the tank. also with a FOWLR system you can easily convert it to a reef system and add corals if an when you decide to as wih marine tanks it aiont all just about the fish!!!

also to make you aware it really is not that difficult to maintain a reef system with corals, just get yourself a regular maintainance routine and stick to it, mine hardly takes up any time at all and i have 2 marine tanks!!!! :good:
